You're Still A Baby Adult! | 5/6/25

I was reflecting today on how it’s been 7 years since I’ve graduated from college. It has simultaneously felt like forever but also not that long.

Teaching high school math now, I realized that students who are 17 years now were 10 just 7 years ago. 🤯Juniors in high school were in 4th grade 7 years ago.

We would obviously notice so much of a difference between a 4th grader and an 11th grader. But why couldn’t that be true of you at 23 and you at 30?

If you think of yourself graduating from college as age 0, then at 30, you’re still only 7-10 years old. You’re still only in elementary school.

So thinking the identity that you’ll have at 23 is who you’ll be at 30 is absolutely wild. Your brain is still fully developing. Your social circles are evolving. Your career is starting. Your relationships are potentially getting more serious.

These years in your 20s are THE TIME to establish your identity.

It’ll evolve by the time you’re 30, yes, but you have to ACTIVELY start that process of identifying who you are. Otherwise, your surroundings will dictate your identity for you.
