What Does "Figuring It Out" Actually Feel Like? | 5/7/25

When I was dating around in my early and mid 20s, one of the biggest reasons/excuses I would use to avoid getting into a relationship was “I’m figuring things out.”

Well what does the process of “figuring things out” actually look and feel like?

It feels messy. It feels incomplete. It feels weird.

And that’s totally okay. I’ve been there.

Writing and journaling were one of the biggest tools I had in my tool belt to “figure things out.” It was the space that I could come to to think through my ideas and feelings.

To establish some sort of personal point of view. What I liked. What I didn’t like. Who I was. Who I was NOT.

To remove myself from the systems and institutions for at least a moment in time.

Now writing is such an integral part of my life that I can’t imagine life without it. If you asked me “do you write” 6 years ago, I would look at you like a deer in headlights. Now, it’s engrained into my way of being.

I write for enjoyment, for ideation, for clarity, for processing, for purpose, for integration.

If you want to receive any prompts or ideas of where to begin writing in your journey, reply back :)
