It's Okay To Not Have Everything Figured Out | 5/5/25

At so many turns in my life, I thought I’d “figured it out.” “Wow, I really know the deepest meanings of life. My purpose. What I want to do with my life.”
WRONG lol
…but also kinda correct - let me explain
The overconfidence of knowing where my life would lead and what direction I wanted to go in is comedic.
And also, I felt just enough clarity and confidence to take that next step, whatever step that was.
Reflecting back, that overconfidence was a naivete about what I could do. What risk I could take. How I could show up.
I left my comfortable consulting job to take a pay cut to work for a startup. I left the startup to pursue coaching full-time. I moved back home with the intention of moving out a few months later (spoiler: still hasn’t happened lol). I invested a lot in myself, sometimes perhaps when it may not have been the “smartest financial decision.”
It may feel somewhat foolish, somewhat naive, somewhat risky, somewhat exciting, somewhat nervous, somewhat exhilarating to be in that energy. But that’s a welcome space to operate from especially in your 20s.
I would argue it’s almost necessary.
Not necessarily when you’re 40-50 and have mortgages or childcare bills to pay. But in your 20s when those are not there. Take those chances. Spend time figuring it out! And know that it’s not a failure if you haven’t figured it out by a certain age. You’re doing your best.
If you want to talk to someone about this, hmu. I love creating space for these types of conversations.
