What’s the most important type of capital you can focus on in your 20s?
Hint: It’s not Financial Capital.
Most would say Social / Relationship Capital.
That’s definitely up there, probably 1B.
But 1A, the one I’d focus most on in your 20s is…
your Identity Capital!
Identity Capital is how you identify yourself.
Back when I was a recent grad, all the way in 2018, I identified with
→ I am a math major
→ I was the VP of my fraternity
→ I am an intramural sports champion (top 3 sports achievement in my lifetime)
And as I was starting my first full time job,
→ I am a tech consultant
Now over the years, *just a few* of the identities that I’ve built up are
→ I am a writer
→ I run and lift weights consistently
→ I am a teacher
→ I do Tai Chi and Chi Gong
→ I love reading and am a speed reader
→ I am a coach
→ I am a marketer
→ I am a teacher
→ I can speak confidently about franchising and franchise marketing
→ I meditate
→ I network effectively
I could keep going on and on but the point is I feel all of these are a part of my identity without a voice in my head saying “naaah, that’s a lie.”
That means it’s ACTUALLY part of you, and not just a title.
So how do you build up your Identity Capital?
By investing in yourself!
Ask me more about that :)
