It’s ideas week over here! Idea #3 of the week!
Problem: Remote solopreneurs / freelancers feel lonely/isolated/disconnected.
Solution: A virtual coworking space (potentially on Gather.town).
Now I know virtual coworking spaces exist but they’re not targeted towards a specific professional demographic, like solopreneurs and freelancers.
One of the beauties of an in person coworking space is that you can choose to lock in and get work done OR you can have conversations OR a combination of the two: getting work done but open to conversations.
Existing communities and even virtual coworking spaces for this demographic don’t have that ability to have spontaneous conversations. It’s either a planned event to learn and/or connect or intentional body doubling to get work done. Those are great, but much of the communication is asynchronous or non-spontaneous.
I’d like to make these virtual interactions more synchronous and spontaneous. Like real life.
I believe that’s where a platform like Gather could be valuable. Where you, the solopreneur or freelancer, pop into this coworking space for any or all of your work day.
→ If you wanna go into deep work mode without interruptions (and body double too), you can do that in specific spaces on the map.
→ If you want to solely network or brainstorm an idea you have, then you can go into a separate space on the map.
→ If you’re in between – have work to do but open to conversations – then you go into another designated space.
Don’t worry, this isn’t sponsored by Gather lol. I’ve never actually used it extensively but from what I’ve seen online, it fits this use case much better than something like Circle or Slack or Whop.
1) Is there anything like this that already exists??
2) Would anyone actually use something like this??
