How To Measure Transformation | 5/14/25

POV: you know you want to experience transformation but you don’t know where to start.

Well first, how do you even measure transformation?

The self-help industry has helped so many people make positive changes in their lives. But it also pushes those further and further into vicious cycles.

Self-help at the end of the day is just information. It’s what you do with that information that’s more important. That actually leads to transformation.

Transformation is how deeply it is a part of your identity.

I was chatting with a friend recently who recently started running consistently over the past couple of weeks. That first run was the toughest but now he’s incorporated it into his schedule and is looking at signing up for 5Ks and 10Ks.

“I am a runner” is starting to be part of his identity. I love seeing that!

The identity is slowly but surely starting to…transform!

On the flip side, that’s why addiction can be such a hard thing to ‘get rid of’. Whether we like it or not, that social media or sports gambling or porn addiction may have been part of our identity for years and years.

There are so many layers to shed that could take months and years to transform.

Also, everyone’s journey of transformation is different. I was listening to Zion Givens’ podcast with guest Jeffery Johnston and his singular moment of transformation with alcohol. That’s his story.

Someone else’s story could be 5 years of slowly decreasing alcoholic drinks to have a great relationship with it now. That could be someone else’s story.

So if you’re just starting out your journey of transformation, give yourself grace. You’re probably not going to be this self-realized soul at 25 saving the world.

But you CAN shift one part of your identity that may not serve you right now. Focus on that for the next quarter and see where you are.

If you want someone to talk to about any of these things, hit me up. I promise it’s not a sales call.
