Related to a recent post about how progress is transformation-based, not time-based, let’s apply that to the depths of our experience as well.
In the working world, an employer could see these two lines on resumes.
A) I have 4 years of experience with Google Ads, Meta Ads, SEO
B) I have 6 years of experience with Google Ads, Meta Ads, SEO
Which one would they go with?
Probably Resume B.
But what if Person A had and showed more impact than Person B? Then as an employer, you should probably choose Person A.
So as a recent grad in your first job, it’s not necessarily about just racking up a certain number of years of experience. It’s about the IMPACT IN THAT ROLE.
And then communicating that impact in a way that lands with others.
So invest in ways to become more aware of your impact, aggregate that qualitative and quantitative impact, and then communicate that impact.
I host a free weekly meetup called Adulting for Recent Grads where we discuss topics like these. Email me and come thru!
