Eat In Silence | 5/12/25

Can we normalize eating in silence? I’m a big culprit of this so I’m calling it out for public accountability too 😅


When we are watching TV or YouTube, scrolling TikTok, or even working / studying while eating, we are not focused on the food. We are not aware of how quickly we are chewing the food. We are not aware of how the food actually tastes. We are not aware of how fresh the food tastes in our mouth. We are not aware of how easily the food goes into our digestive system. We are not aware of any minor sensations that may happen in the body.


“Sai, how is this personal growth related?”


Awareness


If we are not aware of the food we are eating – the energy that we run on on a daily basis – then we are less likely to be aware of the actions we take – the energy we expend.


In other words, lack of awareness of Potential Energy leads to lack of awareness of Kinetic Energy.


So for the next meal you have, I challenge you to eat in silence. Sit with how uncomfortable that may feel. The impulse to reach for your phone. Feel every bite, chew, and swallow.
